The Professional Footballers' Association (PFA), the players’ union, were historically responsible for initiating club community schemes in the 1980s. Today they continue to support and fund a range of initiatives and partnerships which give opportunities for players to work within their communities as well as the vast network of Club Community Organisations, including significant investment in the Premier League Charitable Fund, English Football League Trust, and National League Trust.
