JAKE HESSENTHALER SIGNS NEW DEAL

7 February 2014

Gillingham midfielder Jake Hessenthaler has agreed a new long term deal

Gills home-grown midfielder Jake Hessenthaler has committed his long term future to the club by putting pen to paper on a new four year contract that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2017/18 season.

19 year-old Jake, who is the son of club legend Andy Hessenthaler, is a graduate of the Gills’ Academy. He has been a regular in the club’s youth and development squads in recent seasons and also gained first team experience with loan spells at Margate and Tamworth.

Peter Taylor handed Jake a first team debut in November as a second half substitute in Gillingham’s 4-1 Sky Bet League 1 defeat to Rotherham United. He has since gone on to make 10 first team appearances this season, earning rave reviews for his calm and confident displays in central midfield.
