Josh Wright rejoins Gillingham in time for season opener

Gillingham have signed midfielder Josh Wright on a short term deal.

The 25-year-old rejoins the Gills having spent a successful loan spell with the club during the 2008-09 season, starting the play-off final against Shrewsbury at Wembley where Gills won promotion to League One.

He made eight appearances in total on loan from Charlton Athletic before joining Scunthorpe for the following campaign.

Stints at Crawley, Millwall and Leyton Orient followed but he was released by the O's at the end of last season and started training at Beechings Cross a few weeks ago before coming on as a second half substitute against Portsmouth in a pre-season friendly.

Manager Justin Edinburgh said: "From the day he came into training his attitude has been superb and he looks in good condition.

"He's got a bit to prove and we've given him the opportunity to do that on a short term deal."

Josh will wear number 44 and is eligible to play in Saturday's game against Sheffield United.
