Steve Evans bolsters his attacking options with the capture of Norwich City striker on loan for the rest of the season.

Gills boss Steve Evans has moved quickly in the transfer window to clinch the signing of very highly rated striker Tom Dickson-Peters from Premier League side Norwich City.

The 19-year-old is the top scorer in the second division of the Professional U23 Development League, having netted 18 times in all competitions, and assisted six times.

Tom has been with the Canaries since the age of 15 and has also represented Scotland at U19 level.

On landing his target until the end of the season, the Gills boss said: “I met young Tom and the people from Norwich City yesterday.

“The young man had a number of clubs he could have joined, such is his talent, but I got a call late afternoon yesterday to say he wanted to come to Gillingham.

“It obviously helps Norwich City favour us as his destination when you consider the development that the likes of Chris Wood, Jack Marriott and Ivan Toney made working with Paul and myself.

“Tom is the Premier League 2’s leading goalscorer with 18 goals in league and cup action.

“I have watched his progress since the start of the season and it’s an exciting journey he is on.

“He comes here with no pressure other than he needs to continue to work hard at developing his game.

“He is a lovely kid who wants to continue scoring goals and we will do everything to help him.”

Tom has been assigned the number 9 shirt and is eligible for selection ahead of Saturday’s visit of Ipswich Town in Sky Bet League 1.
