Gills U18's are out of the Youth Alliance Cup.

The club's youth team came from behind to force penalties in Tuesday's EFL Youth Alliance Cup first round fixture against Cambridge, but it was the visitors who prevailed 7-6 in the shootout.

A defensive mix up allowed Cambridge to get their noses in front at Beechings, but the hosts were better following the interval and got back on level terms when Will Dempsey's shot was deflected beyond the visiting keeper from inside the box on 57 minutes.

Stan Skipper and Matty Macarthur went close late on, but the tie was decided on penalties following a 1-1 draw.

Sam Gale, Alex Giles, Ronald Sithole, Matty Macarthur, Leighton Murray and Dempsey all found the target with Kai Garratt and Josh Bayliss missing their kicks.

Gills: Smith, Moore, Giles, Taiwu-Pratt (Woodliffe 46), Dempsey, Kuhr (Garratt 66), Macarthur, Skipper, Gale, Sithole, Gbode (Murray 70).
