Ogie | "The players dug deep"

Collective efforts in tough conditions key to Salford win, says Shad Ogie.

Gillingham defender Shad Ogie said he was 'living the dream' after opening the scoring in the team's impressive 2-0 away victory over Salford.

The Gills players braved the apoycoliptic weather conditions which included a ferocious hailstorm which left the pitch like a blanket of white.

Ogie, however, was only looking on the sunny side as the Gills scooped maximum points, cementing their position back in the top seven.

"We knew that Salford would be a tough test, they are a good side." said Ogie after the game. "The conditions were really tough. Coming from our win against Wrexham, we wanted to keep that momentum.

"The players really dug deep, there were no stand-out players today because everyone played their part, as did our 500 supporters. Credit to them, we heard them throughout the whole 95 minutes.

"I had been getting a bit of stick in training because I haven’t been scoring but I felt that getting a goal has taken a lot of pressure off my shoulders.

“It was just about gambling. I have seen Conor Masterson doing that in a couple of games to score, so I knew that just being between the sticks and on your toes, hopefully it would land for me and it did.

”It is good to add goals to your game alongside the defending stuff, Conor has got both, I am learning from him, an experienced player.

“As a defender, all I care for is a clean sheet. Yes, I am excited for the goal, but it is just a bonus. I don’t get much as a defender but when I do you have to soak it all in.

"Back-to-back wins, clean sheets, we are living the dream. We just have to stay focused and continue what we are doing."
