Bristol Rovers game to be our dedicated #HerGameToo fixture

Saturday’s Sky Bet League 2 game at home to Bristol Rovers will be the club’s dedicated #HerGameToo fixture.

The club has dedicated one game from the past few seasons to the campaign, which was started in May 2021. Gillingham FC has a dedicated #HerGameToo representative with Glenn Morris being our official player ambassador.

Founded nearly five years ago, Her Game Too is a passionate movement dedicated to tackling sexism and promoting gender equality within the world of sport.

Recognising the pervasive challenges faced by women and girls in sport, Her Game Too strives to create an inclusive environment where everyone, regardless of gender, can enjoy and participate in sports without fear of discrimination or harassment.

On Saturday, a special LED design will be shown our advertising boards, players will warm-up in dedicated t-shirts and our mascots will be walking around with a dedicated picture board where you can have photos taken to help support the initiative. Furthermore, we will dedicate a page in our Accrington programme to all content captured this coming weekend.

Ahead of Saturday's game, Glenn said: “I am delighted to be the club’s #HerGameToo ambassador and I am really pleased to see that the campaign has received so much positivity and government backing.

“More girls now have the opportunity to play Football as a result of the movement and the success of our women’s national team has certainly helped its popularity and pushed for increased opportunities for young women who want to build a career in the game.”

Shannon Galinson added: “I am so proud that the Football Club has backed, and continues to back, this fantastic campaign. Her Game Too has helped create opportunities for young women who want to build a career in the game, and give them the confidence to develop.

“The movement has had fantastic support from all over the world, and we are delighted to be playing our part in helping to ensure that Football is for everybody.”
