Gareth Ainsworth is keen to prove that his Gillingham team will make life difficult for any opponent as they host Luton Town in the Carabao Cup on Saturday.
Jack Wilshere will be in the opposing dugout, and Ainsworth praised the former England international, who is in the early stages of his managerial career.
The Gills boss provided injury updates ahead of the fixture, including the availability of Ollie Wright, Cameron Antwi and Bradley Dack.
Conor McManus and Sheldon Kendall both signed for the Football Club in the week, and Ainsworth is excited to see what the two players can do in ME7. He also discussed potential transfer business, as the summer window enters its final month.
His relationship with Jack Wilshere...
Luton at home, Championship potential for them next year. They are really going to go for it. I know Jack Wilshere really well. We did our pro license together, so we have been in contact when he was at Norwich.
It was great for him to get the Luton job and win the EFL Trophy in their first season. That's no mean feat for a young manager to come in and do that. We haven't met on the touchline yet, but I have huge respect for him and his career and what he does, but more as a person - a great guy.
Hopefully, he will realise that my teams don't just sit down and let the higher league team win. We're going to be up for this.
Injury news...
Cam's [Cameron Antwi] on the grass and has been out since February. What a cracking player, and he will be frustrated because he wants to be seen. He wants to play, and he's going to need a little bit of game time before we consider him back in the team.
We are not going to moan or complain. We have got a flexible, multi-positional squad.
We are still touch and go with Ollie [Wright] and we will see where that is on Saturday... Ollie is close. That is all that I will say, and we will see how that goes over the next couple of days.
Dacky [Bradley Dack], unfortunately, got a calf injury during the pre-season and we have to make sure that he is okay... Bradley won't be involved on Saturday.
On the signing of Conor McManus and Sheldon Kendall...
Some of the new faces, Conor McManus and Sheldon Kendall coming in this week. I think it has been fantastic.
When a new player comes in, you're almost like, 'Right, I want to be at my best because I want this new player to see how good I am.' All of the lads have been at their best.
I am excited about both of those, by the way. Conor looks a real willing and ready-to-learn guy, and Sheldon looks so exciting, really exciting.
I can't wait to get them both in front of the fans and show what we have got.
Potential transfer business...
We will see what is available. This is the time of year where one or two bargains, or mind blowing signings, come up that you can't believe you have been offered, so we are always in the market for that, but the Sam Gale replacement is one we have to do.
