Robbie McKenzie is hoping that Gillingham can finish the season on a positive note as they travel to Barnet on Saturday for the club's final away fixture of the campaign.
He knows that a strong end to the season can give the group confidence when they return from their summer break, but he realises that playoff-chasing Barnet will pose a difficult test for the side.
McKenzie is finishing his sixth season with the Gills and discussed the affinity he has for the Football Club.
The 27-year-old also talked about the recent injury that kept him out for the duration of March and how frustrating a period that was for him, and he also reflected on what has been a tricky 2025/26 season.
On the trip to Barnet...
We want to finish the season on a positive note, going into the summer, so that we come back strong. They have got to win the game and have aspirations to be in the play-offs, so hopefully, we can stop that.
They have to come out and get all three points, so they are going to come out attacking. We will be ready for that, and hopefully, we can come away with the points ourselves.
His dedication to the Football Club...
I have been here that long that I feel like this place is just waiting for something good to happen. I feel like that is why I have stayed so long. It means a lot for me to see this club do well, and I want that to happen more than anything. Hopefully, next year is that year.
On his recent injury and trying to battle through...
It was frustrating. I always try and play on as much as possible, but this one I couldn't risk it. It is frustrating at times picking up injuries where you can't just get through it. It was frustrating for me.
I am paid to play Football, so that is what I want to do at the end of the day. It is what I love doing, but again, I don't want to be coming in and going into the physio room. I want to be out there, and I want to be playing Football. That is just me.
Reflecting on the season...
It has been an up-and-down season. There have been a lot of things on and off the pitch that have been going on that are out of our control. It is something that we need to look back on and go through and learn from it in a way, and put things right for next year and make sure that it doesn't happen again.
