Zech Obiero is looking forward to showing the Gillingham supporters what he is capable of after signing on a season-long loan from Leyton Orient on transfer deadline day.
The midfielder was actually on the bench for Orient that evening, as they beat Bromley 5-0. Obiero spoke about how the deal progressed throughout the day, finding out that the loan had been greenlit after the fixture.
Obiero has settled in quickly, which was made easier with Omar Beckles and Ethan Coleman at the club, who he knows from his time at Leyton Orient.
How the move materialised...
I was preparing for the game, as you do. We had a game against Bromley, and I was on the bench. I was not really thinking anything of it, thinking about the game, really. Whether I was going to come on, as I wasn't starting, and then I got a text from my agent talking about this interest from Gillingham, which we had heard about before, but nothing materialised.
We played the game, and I was on the bench. I didn't know what was going on, and then after is when I got the green light to come and join Gills.

On settling in...
I met the boys, and the boys have been really good with me. Really welcoming. It is a lovely stadium and a lovely ground. I am just happy to be here.
There are a couple of familiar faces as well in Ethan Coleman and Omar Beckles. I know them two. It is easier to settle in when you know a couple of people.
What the fans can expect...
I would say that I come with a lot of energy. I like to run around, press, and get the ball back. On the ball, I like to carry the ball up the pitch, and I like to receive it. I like to receive it deep to carry, or receive it high. It is not a problem for me, as I like to do both.
Just to excite really. Get on the ball, show a bit of flair, and just try and get goals and assists. Mostly a ball carrier, and being exciting.
I am more central. I don't mind playing wide either, but I think that I am definitely more comfortable central, where I can link up and play with other players on the pitch. Not more like one v one, but more like link up and clever passes, but I have also played wide.
