Gillingham v Chesterfield
Sky Bet League Two
MEMS Priestfield Stadium
Tuesday August 19, 2025
Kick-Off, 7.45pm
Team News:
Gills will likely be without Conor Masterson, Shad Ogie and Euan Williams for the midweek fixture against Chesterfield. The game will likely come too soon for Seb Palmer-Houlden too.
Ethan Coleman is a doubt, having come off in the draw against Tranmere with a cut to the head. Sam Vokes is pushing to be involved, while Max Clark will serve his one game suspension after his sending off for two yellow cards at the weekend.

Adam Lewis could start for Chesterfield after he came off the bench to assist their winning goal against Bristol Rovers at the weekend. Ronan Darcy will be pushing to start the trip to ME7 after coming on as a substitute in their 3-1 victory. Tuesday night will likely be too soon for James Berry to feature in.
Manager Comments:
Gareth Ainsworth - “I’m hoping that the fans will turn up on Tuesday and get behind us, because this will be a tough task. Chesterfield are one of the favourites.
“They turned Bristol Rovers over 3-1 today [Saturday]. We will need to be at our best to get to get anything out of that one as well."

Danny Webb (Assistant Manager)- “On Monday we are travelling down to Gillingham, which we know will be a battle. We will keep eyes on their score and watch their game back tomorrow. Hopefully, we can go down there and do a job on them.”
Previous Meetings:
Gills hosted Chesterfield in April 2000, hoping to continue their play-off push against the side that sat at the bottom of the Division Two table. The visitors frustrated their hosts, as Gillingham struggled to break the deadlock. Steve Butler nearly opened the scoring in the first half when his header was first saved, then cleared off the line.
Worries of dropping points in a must win game were eased 15 minutes from time when Butler scored what proved to be the winning goal. Nicky Southall’s ball into the penalty area from just inside The Spireites' half dropped to Butler, and his perfect first touch gave him the time to set himself before he fired the ball past Mark Gayle and into the back of the net.
