Gillingham v Tranmere Rovers
Sky Bet League Two
MEMS Priestfield Stadium
Saturday February 7, 2026
Kick-Off, 3.01pm
Team News:
Conor Masterson is expected to miss at least a couple of weeks due to the knock that he picked up in the defeat to Bromley. Cameron Antwi could make his full debut and Garath McCleary is also pushing for a start.
Lewis Warrington, Zech Obiero, Max Dickov and Stephan Negru all signed for Tranmere at the end of the transfer window and should be involved in their matchday squad for the fixture.
Omari Patrick will return to the Tranmere squad, having been left out of their previous game against Salford City. Dylan Jones and Will Tamen will miss the fixture due to knocks that they picked up.
Manager Comments:
Gareth Ainsworth: “Obviously, [Andy] Crosby is going to have his team ready for a battle and a fight. They have been on a bit of a dodgy run, so we are expecting nothing but a tough game, which we will do week in and week out at Priestfield.”
Andy Crosby: “We had a really close game with Gillingham at the start of the season, and they've recruited and had a big changeover in terms of what they're trying to do, but we're prepared, and we know what they're going to try and do, and we also know what we're going to do.
"There have been moments in these games where we've lost concentration, and we've been punished for it, and when those moments happen, teams are taking advantage of it, and when we have had moments, we didn't take them.”
Previous Meetings:
Tranmere leads the head-to-head with 15 wins to Gillingham’s nine. However, the most common result to occur in our 42 meetings has been the draw, happening on 18 occasions.
Gills beat Tranmere Rovers at the Priestfield Stadium in January 2007 thanks to two goals in seven first half minutes.
The hosts went in front after 22 minutes thanks to a Chris McCready own goal. Danny Jackman’s low, testing corner from the right bounced inside the six-yard box and McCready got the final touch to put it into the back of the net.
Andrew Crofts doubled the advantage in the 29th minute. Mark Bentley’s cross from the right was met by Crofts, who sent a diving header looping into the goal, just out of the reach of future England goalkeeper Joe Hart.
