Notts County v Gillingham
Sky Bet League Two
Meadow Lane
Tuesday February 3, 2026
Kick-Off, 7.45pm
Team News:
Conor Masterson is a doubt for the game, having come off during the first-half against Bromley. Ronan Hale and Cameron Antwi came on as substitutes and will be pushing for starts.
Gareth Ainsworth has hinted that he will be rotating his squad for the midweek fixture. The inclusion of new signing Omar Beckles will depend on ratification from the EFL and FA.
Harald Nilsen Tangen could be involved in the Notts County matchday squad, having signed on loan from Sarpsborg. Matthew Dennis, who came off the bench to score in Notts County’s last two league wins, will be pushing to start the game.
Martin Paterson has named the same starting XI in successive fixtures, but gave nothing away in revealing whether he could rotate his team ahead of Tuesday’s fixture.
Manager Comments:
Martin Paterson - “The key thing and the message to the players is that we have a game Tuesday, so make sure that you prepare. Make sure that you bring that mentality, that attitude and that desire. Then can we pass the ball a little bit more at home.”
Gareth Ainsworth - “Having the squad that we have got, there will be rotation in the team because they are a good side as well. Notts County are a very good side.”
Previous Meetings:
Tuesday will be the 37th meeting between the two teams, with Gillingham leading the head-to-head with 18 victories. Notts County have won 12 times in the fixture, with six draws occurring on the other occasions.
Gillingham’s last visit to Meadow Lane came in September 2024, with Elliott Nevitt’s first-half goal proving the difference. Remeao Hutton’s excellent through ball allowed Nevitt to go through on goal. The forward took it around the oncoming Alex Bass before slotting into an empty net.
Sam Austin thought he had scored a late equaliser for the hosts when he scored from close range, but after a long conversation between the referee and his assistant, the goal was ruled out for offside.
