Robbie McKenzie has won the club’s “Goal of the Month” competition for December, sponsored by Ability Plus, following his strike against Colchester United.
The former Hull City man won the prize by just a few votes, with Aaron Rowe’s effort against Barrow finishing a close second. Max Clark’s header against Cambridge was third.
Robbie started and ended the move against Colchester, passing the ball wide to Aaron Rowe on the left wing who took on his man and sprinted down the line before finding McKenzie in the 18-yard box. The midfielder was unmarked, opened up his body and side footed a terrific effort into the opposite corner.
Having won the vote, the player will be presented with a bottle of champagne by the sponsors, Ability Plus, following the warm-up this Saturday at MEMS Priestfield Stadium. We take on Newport County, kick-off at 3pm.
