Ollie Wright is looking forward to getting back to the MEMS Priestfield Stadium as Gillingham host Tranmere Rovers on Saturday.
The Gills play back-to-back home games, with Bristol Rovers next up after Tranmere. Wright knows that both games will provide stern tests, but he believes the squad has it in them to deal with the challenges they will be presented with.
The Southampton loanee missed the pre-season and start of the campaign due to injury, but is now back fully fit and is glad to be back playing and in the thick of things. Wright credited all of the behind-the-scenes staff for getting him back to full fitness.
Wright has been really impressed with the support the squad has received from the Gillingham fans during the early stages of the season, and he is hoping that the players can reward them with a first home victory this weekend.
Building towards the next two home fixtures...
It has been really positive this week. Going and getting your first three points, four goals, and playing well. It has been a good week of training, and now we are just focusing on the next game because the games are coming thick and fast.
We have two tough home fixtures in Tranmere and Bristol Rovers. They are going to be up there this season. They are both physical teams, but we are ready to put up with the challenge.
On returning from his injury...
It wasn't the start that I wanted —coming here and picking up an injury. I have to be thankful to the physio department, the S&C (strength and conditioning) and even the coaching staff for getting me back on the pitch. They have been excellent with me, and the rehab went well. I am just happy to be back and to get going again.
It's all about staying fit now and making sure that off the pitch I am looking after myself.
Securing a first home win of the season for the supporters...
Hopefully, we can get the place rocking on Saturday with three points. The fans have been amazing, and the away support have been brilliant, travelling really well.
The support has been fantastic so far. Meeting all of the fans and everything, so this one would be for the fans at the weekend. Get the three points and get the place bouncing.
The atmosphere in the dressing room...
We have built a really good connection off the pitch. The changing room is really good. It is healthy as well; there are really good people in the changing room.
