Births

The following former Gillingham players were born on this day.....

1907 - Albert Woods
Born in Faversham, Albert arrived at the club in February 1931 but didn't make his debut until the penultimate game of that season at home to Norwich City.
He kept his place for the following game but left the club for Brentford in the summer.

1924 - Billy Millar
The Scottish winger was signed by Gills manager Archie Clark from Swindon Town in July 1953 having previously played for Partick Thistle, Aberdeen and Stirling Albion.
He certainly had an eye for goal and netted on his debut in a 1-1 draw at Bristol City on the opening day of the season.
In all Billy notched 38 goals in 97 games for the club, including 19 in the 1954-55 campaign when he forged a terrific partnership with Ernie Morgan who amassed 33 goals himself.
In the summer of 1956 he joined Accrington Stanley and later played for Kettering Town and Macclesfield Town.
