FEATHERBY CLINCH HALF TIME SHOOT OUT GLORY

Featherby Junior School claim victory over Davington in HTSO competition

Last weekend, during half-time of our last fixture of the 2013/14 season against Shrewsbury at MEMS Priestfield Stadium, we hosted the final of our schools shoot-out competition.

Featherby Junior School and Davington Primary School had both booked their place in the final after each beating three other schools on the way.

Their experience began 10 minutes before the end of the first half when all the finalists were taken inside to go over all the rules, ensure they were wearing the correct clothing and knew the penalty order.

As soon as the half-time whistle sounded both schools lined up in the tunnel like professionals and once on the pitch they had a quick warm up, including short range passes and kick ups, before getting on with the final.

Both teams started well scoring their first two penalties, Davington then missed their third which left Featherby in the driving seat to win the competition.

Everyone then held their nerve to score, confirming Featherby as the winners of this season’s half-time shoot-out competition.

The crowd at Priestfield gave great support and made it an amazing atmosphere for the kids, cheering when goals were scored and showing their appreciation for what turned out to be a really entertaining and close encounter.

Commiserations to Davington who had been strong contenders throughout the competition, however they were worthy runners-up.

Congratulations to Dave Brenton and his team from Featherby Junior School on becoming this season’s champions.

A huge thank you to all of the schools who were involved in this year’s competition and for their sportsmanship and showmanship throughout the rounds, we hope you all enjoyed the competition as much as we and the Gillingham faithful did.
