Gareth Ainsworth is ready for a tough test as Gillingham travel to Boundary Park to face Oldham Athletic on Saturday afternoon.
The Gills manager credited the brilliant work Micky Mellon has done in bringing 'The Latics' back into the EFL, and knows that his side will have to be at their best to get something from the fixture.
Ainsworth provided some positive injury news ahead of the game, with more players returning to training.
The transfer window is days away from closing, and Ainsworth also gave an update on any potential business heading towards the deadline.
Looking at Saturday...
It's going to be a tough challenge. Micky Mellon has been around the leagues and knows his way out of this league. He has had some great results with teams in this league, and he is a highly respected manager in the EFL. He is going to have his team up for this one. They have had a slow start, but they did magnificently to get into League Two from the position that they were in last year. He got them up through the play-offs, and here they are.
We are not taking anything for granted. We aren't looking at the league table, as it's five games. There's nothing that you can tell from that.
They've had some changes in personnel, and I am sure that Micky will start getting results. He's a good manager, and I have managed against him a few times. He has always been a tough opponent to come up against.
We will travel early Friday, and hopefully, we will get up there at a reasonable time. We need to be at our best in every single game this season. I told the boys that they need to be on it. We can't rest on any laurels.
Aiming to bring back a result on your travels...
I love bringing things back from our trips on the road. We will always value a point away from home. We always go for three, but the last two games we have had to come back into the game to get our point. I think that it has shown great character and spirit, but I always go with the aim of bringing something back.
Fitness updates...
Euan Williams joined in some training this morning, which is great to see. Seb Palmer-Houlden is on the grass again, and Shad [Ogie] has been rested. He had some good sessions last week, so we are really close to getting some of these bodies back. There have been no fresh injuries from the weekend. That's how I want it to be. I think that the medical and sports science team have done a great job of unloading and keeping everyone fit.
Fingers crossed, we will have strong squads going forward now.
Heading into the final days of the transfer window...
We're still trying to get a player in. We want one, purely for numbers, because we had a certain number that we wanted to get to. The ins and outs and the details of it all, and the spreadsheets that we do upstairs; we know why we want this player, and we have targets for this player and what position it is going to be.
I have done some good deals late. I have done some deals early in the window, and I have also not managed to get them over the line in my career. That happens as well. Be ready for all three eventualities. They could well happen.
We are in a pretty good place. I'd rather be where I am than maybe scrambling around thinking that we need two, three, four, or five players.
