Richard Dobson is expecting a difficult test as Gillingham travel to Newport County in the First Round of the FA Cup this weekend.
Newport played a different system in their impressive win at Harrogate Town, and Dobson acknowledges that will alter their preparations for the fixture.
The Gills assistant manager provided an update on Glenn Morris, and discussed the importance of the FA Cup.
Looking at the game on Saturday...
They have changed their system over the last week, so we have to be aware of that and the different threats they will pose from that. We know from that game [in the league last month] that they were very good for the first 20 minutes and put us under a lot of pressure, so we have to start the game better than we did down there.
Having seen them recently, we are well aware of the threats that they pose and of the people that they have got playing for them. I guess that we have a little bit of an advantage in the fact that we aren't going in blind. We would never do that anyway; we would always do our homework.
I think that it will be a different game to the one that we played there last time. They will be more wary of us and our threats, and we will be more wary of them. It's a good game, and it is one that we are looking forward to. We want to progress in the cup.
Importance of respecting the FA Cup...
The FA Cup is important. I think that for the history of football in this country, I think that we really need to continue to respect this competition, because I think that we have lost a bit of respect around the League Cup and the sides that are being put out in that now. We have got a wonderful competition in this country that we really need to continue to respect.
