Gaffer | "I want to back up last week's result"

Boss

Gareth Ainsworth is keen for his team to back up the win at Bristol Rovers with three more points at home to Crawley on Saturday.

The game is a 5.30 pm kick-off due to it being broadcast nationally live on Sky Sports, and Ainsworth is expecting a tough evening against Scott Lindsey's side.

Ainsworth discussed team news, providing updates on Euan Williams and Conor Masterson's recovery. The Gills boss also gave his assessment on the availability of Armani Little and Jonny Williams.

Looking at the game on Saturday...

It is going to be a tough game. They are a decent side and we have watched them. Scott Lindsey has had some real good success in the past at Crawley. They have had a poor start, but they have found some form now, and it is fair to say that they are going to be a tough opposition on Saturday here at Priestfield.

I think that we have had a lot of respect from teams, and they have come here a bit weary because we have started the season well, but Scott is someone that will want his teams to come at you. His style of football is wanting to get at you, and he has a young-ish side full of energy and athleticism.

We have got to be at our best and, again, we have trained the last couple of days with them in mind, and having a look at what shape potentially we could employ to first of all, stop Crawley and what they threat, and also what breaks them down, and what can we do to score against them. That is my job as a manager.

I want to back up the result from last week at Bristol Rovers. It would be nice, as back-to-back wins are always good in the league. However, in no way, shape, or form am I thinking that this is going to be an easy game. This will be a tough game.

Team news...

It's the same again, almost. We have probably got maybe two faces that could potentially make the squad. Armani [Little] is not too far away now, and Jonny Williams is not far away at all. Both of those two probably come back into contention.

Euan [Williams], unfortunately, had a bit of a setback, so he is going to be out for a couple more weeks, so we will watch that one. He is going to be like a new signing in January, Euan, and Conor [Masterson]. Both of those two will be closer to Christmas than this side of November. Patience for both of those two is nice, as I don't want everyone thinking that they are coming back quickly and that I am putting any pressure on them.

Euan had a nasty injury with his shoulder, and I know that when you get back, you have to get the rest of your body up to speed as well. It has been tough for him because he has been without contact for so long, and contact is what gives you match fitness and gets you back in the groove, so he has to do plenty of that.

Conor was obviously in a boot and was on crutches for a while, and I know as well as anyone that it can be a tough one, and you need to build your calf and strength back up again. Those two are definitely out, but everyone else, I'd say, is in contention.

Differing styles in football today...

All managers have different styles. It would be very boring if we didn't. We have an identity here, and I am hoping that you can ask any player what our identity is, and they would be able to name you two or three key points that we stand for. Again, it's the same with Crawley; they will have an identity of what they want to do.

That's the beauty of football, just how different the styles are. Some people are defined by style, and some people are defined by results. I personally just love to win games. I'm a winner, out and out. I will do anything to win a game, while some people will stick to a certain way and style to win a game, and they have to win it that way. That is probably the difference between us all.

I am sort of infamous for saying that possession and things like that are not very important to me. It's about winning games, and who wins the most games at the end of the season. I think that for me, that is all that this game will be: who can win the most games. I intend to keep going and winning as many as I can.
