Gillingham have completed the permanent signing of Eli King from Cardiff City for an undisclosed fee.
The former Welsh U21 international midfielder could make his Gills debut at Spotland against Rochdale on Saturday.
King, 23, signed late on deadline day and was present at the SMH Group Stadium to watch the second half of the 1-1 draw at Chesterfield.
Eli came through the youth ranks at Cardiff and made his professional debut in October 2021 during a Championship fixture at home to Middlesbrough.
He made ten appearances in total for the Bluebirds but also had productive loan spells with Crewe, Ross County and Stevenage. He played alongside Nick Freeman at the Lamex Stadium.
He played 15 times for the Welsh U21 side, scoring once, having also represented the U17 team.
Speaking to the club website he said: “It’s been a whirlwind today, deadline day always is. I trained this morning and then got straight into my car to Chesterfield!
“I’ve made lots of appearances now; as a player I can play as a six or an eight - I like to get on the ball and get around the pitch and pass through the lines.”
