The club have added to their defensive options with the capture of centre-back, Jack Daley, from Championship side Middlesbrough on a season-long loan deal.
The 19-year-old, who began his youth career in the Blyth Spartans academy college program, becomes Gills second signing in the space of a few days with striker Lamin Sillah arriving late last week from Nottingham Forest.
Daley could be involved in Tuesday night’s fixture against Chesterfield at the SMH Group Stadium.
The defender, who recently signed a new contract at the Riverside Stadium, joined 'Boro last summer from Newcastle Blue Star following a successful trial period. He featured 37 times for Blue Star during the 2024/25 season, scoring six times, and went on to win the club's "Player of the Year" award.
On signing his deal at ME7 he said: "The club has a good fan base and I want to enjoy the challenge. I like a duel, heading at both ends and keeping goals out. I am expecting League 2 to be more physical and more demanding fitness wise.
"I want to come in and play as many games as I can."
