Glenn Morris was pleased that Gillingham could come away from Salford with a strong point and another clean sheet on Saturday.
The experienced goalkeeper made a fantastic double save deep into stoppage time, admitting it is one of the moments you have to enjoy when playing in the position.
The 0-0 draw marked successive clean sheets for the Gills. Morris believes it was important to back up the 2-0 victory against Accrington Stanley on Easter Monday with another solid defensive performance, which he felt they had.
Sam Gale and Andy Smith have played at the heart of the defence in recent weeks, impressing Morris greatly. He also touched upon the fantastic sliding tackles they put in during the first-half to prevent Salford from having big goal-scoring opportunities.
There were 522 Gillingham supporters at the Peninsula Stadium, and the goalkeeper was appreciative of another brilliant effort from the travelling support, who backed the team throughout. He also discussed Tuesday's trip to Cheltenham Town, which will be another tough test.
On his late double save...
It is just instincts. They whack it, and you save it, and you are hoping that we are going to clear the next one. I think that the first one came pretty quickly to me, then it managed to go to someone else, and they whacked that back in. I saved that, and I think that it went to them again after that, and I was thinking, 'Oh no.' Luckily, we got back, and the boys did really well to get around it, and we cleared it.
It is what you play in goal for. You have to enjoy those moments. It would have been nice if we could have got three points, but it was a great, solid performance. We had a couple of half-chances that could have maybe hit someone and gone in, and a couple of other little things near the end that could have gone our way, but we will be happy with that point, especially here, where they are really good at home.
On back-to-back clean sheets...
To back up Monday [win vs Accrington Stanley] with a clean sheet is what we need to do as a defence. We felt solid for most of the game. They hit the bar in the first-half, and then it was just a bit of pressure right at the end. Other than that, it didn't feel like there was much in it. It was nice to come away with another clean sheet, definitely.
On Andy Smith and Sam Gale at the heart of the defence...
They have been brilliant. You have to look at their age, but you wouldn't think that, watching them today. They were brilliant. They looked like they were seasoned pros back there in the way that they managed it and headed things. It was fantastic.
Even Conor [Masterson] came on at the end, and he put his head on a few things, which was important for us as well. It is what you need.
[On their key sliding challenges during the first half]- They were fantastic tackles. You need your defenders to do that, and they did it. It was one of those where there wasn't much, like we said in the game, other than a few half-chances here and there, but we have to be happy with a point away at Salford at this time of the season, definitely with where they are.
On the fantastic support from the 522 travelling fans...
That's more us, definitely. You have to say that is a great amount of fans to travel this far at this time of the season. Those are great numbers. It did help, and it definitely pushed us on. It's a shame that we couldn't get them the win, but I am sure they will go away quite happy with how we did.
Tuesday's trip to Cheltenham...
I think that they are a different animal now after January, Cheltenham. We know that will be tough. They have got a lot of firepower, and we will have to stand up and be counted there as well.
