Morris | "There were some real positives"

Glenn

Glenn Morris is feeling upbeat ahead of the upcoming EFL League Two season despite a 0-2 defeat at home to a clinical Luton side in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.

The visitors, now in League One, scored twice in the first half at ME7 which gave Gareth Ainsworth’s men a mountain to climb, and the visitors dug in to secure a clean sheet with Max Clark having had a penalty saved early in the second period.

Thoughts on the game...

I thought that it was a good workout and a really good shift against a strong side who you would expect to be fighting up the top this season. We had some good chances to get goals back in both the first and second half.

Max (Clark) was also unfortunate to miss the penalty. There were some real positives and we are starting to look like a strong unit; these are the sorts of games that you want to get tested.

Season ahead....

Pre-season is what it is but it’s not real and not the three points you would get on a Saturday, it usually is different to your normal Saturday game in the season, so we are buzzing to get going in August.

The two upcoming games will be tough so we must be right at it.

In pre-season you have to trust what you are doing, how your body feels and overall, what training you do. As goalkeepers it’s different from ten years ago where you would take part in the running, I don't mind it and always been well known for my running, but you do your work with the other keepers to get up to speed. It’s nice to be with Jake (Turner) and Deren (Ibrahim), we get on really well and looking forward to next season.
