Elliott Nevitt said the dressing room was “gutted” not to have won against Cheltenham on Saturday, but praised the spirit within the camp to seal a point which could prove important as the season progresses.
Nevitt came off the bench to score in the fifth minute of stoppage time at MEMS Priestfield Stadium on Saturday, his first goal of the season, and thanked the management staff for the faith shown in him.
He said: “I feel like the dressing room is a bit gutted, watching from the bench I thought the lads were brilliant. In the first half the only thing missing was a goal, we created, we were much the better team, and coming out for the second half we looked like we carried that on until they had one chance, I think they had one shot on target, and it was their goal.
“That was tough but we kept going and we knew that if we kept going we would always get chances, we did that to get a point which is not what we wanted, but it will be a good point.
“I feel like the Gaffer and Dobbo have trusted me in the way with playing me in the majority of the games and I want to reward them and reward everyone for believing in me. I am happy I got the goal but it’s tough to not be coming away with the three points.
“The lads always fight to the very end but conceding the way the way we conceded after the performance we put on was very tough.”
