The Football Club is very saddened to have learned that former striker, Ken Price, has passed away at the age of 71.
Ken signed for the Gills in 1976 from Southend United, having begun his career with Dudley Town in non-league, and made 293 appearances in all competitions while at MEMS Priestfield Stadium, scoring 89 goals. He sits eighth on our all-time top goalscorers table, and is the 16th highest appearance maker in our history.
He scored his first goal on December 11, 1976, in a 3-1 defeat at Oxford before scoring against the same opposition at home the following month. He netted for the final time in November 1982 in a Football League Cup tie at home to Tottenham Hotspur.
He finished as the club's top scorer for four different seasons.
He had two years at Reading (1983-1985) after leaving Kent before dropping into non-league Football with Basingstoke Town.
He was one of our legends when Gills entertained Hartlepool at ME7 in January 2023.
He sadly died on November 28.
The thoughts and condolences of everyone at Gillingham Football Club are with Ken’s family, friends and loved ones at this difficult time.
