Andy Smith was left hurting after Gillingham lost 2-0 against Crawley Town after conceding two stoppage-time goals on Saturday.
The defender has called for the squad to take ownership of the current struggles on the pitch, conceding that they have not managed the important moments in games throughout the second-half of the season.
With the recent run of results, Smith knows that only the players on the pitch can get themselves out of the current situation, looking towards the two games over the Easter period as an opportunity to put things right.
Post-match thoughts...
We are gutted. We were in the game for most of it, but in the second-half of the season we have not managed moments well enough. It has cost us today. Today has got absolutely nothing to do with systems, tactics or anything like that. It comes down to two moments, and we are letting the Gaffer down at the minute, I think.
As a squad, we need to start taking ownership. It hurts at the minute.
We have to put it right, starting Monday, and go again.
I feel like we are letting the Gaffer, the staff and the fans down. It's on us as players. We have to manage the moments better, and that is about it, really.
Turning things around...
We are in a tough place at the minute. We have to find it within ourselves. There is not a lot more that the Gaffer and his staff can be doing. It is just one of them places at the minute.
[The games over Easter]- There are two games in quite a quick turnaround, so there is a chance to put some things right.
Understanding the frustration of the supporters...
I get it. The fans pay so much money to come and watch us week in and week out. With the backing that we had today, I am absolutely gutted for them that we have not managed to get at least a point. It really hurts.
