Sam Vokes said the main feeling in the dressing room was frustration following Saturday’s 2-1 home defeat to Salford.
Gills conceded twice within the opening 27 minutes and, although Josh Andrews pulled one back before the interval, strong second-half pressure went unrewarded.
Following the game, Sam said: “I think frustration is a fair analysis. I think that’s the feeling right now in the dressing room and I’m sure that was the feeling in the stands watching it. They had to work for their goals but not too hard and we kind of gave them the two goals before we really got going.
"If you look at the second-half performance especially it’s something to be proud of and we’ve got enough strength in the dressing room to go and stop this rut we’re in, but we can’t go into games and give the opposition a 2-0 head start.
“We know we’ve got quality in the dressing room, we’ve got that threat going forward but what we can’t do is rely on us chasing games. Teams will come here, Cheltenham did it a few weeks ago, and will frustrate us.
“The dressing room is gutted, I can tell you that much, and we’re hurting as much as anyone else and we know we need to put it right.”
