Vokes | "We have got to dust ourselves down and go again"

Vokes

Sam Vokes came away from Gillingham’s 1-0 defeat against Crewe Alexandra feeling frustrated having created several chances only to leave empty handed.

Gills had several opportunities in the game, and Vokes lamented the missed opportunities in an afternoon of close margins.

The former Wales international touched upon playing up front with Ronan Hale as a pair and looked towards Tuesday’s game at Chesterfield.

Verdict on the game…

I’m feeling very frustrated. I think that we have come away from a game there, which we have arguably dominated the chances at least. A set piece has undone us, and we’re not happy to concede that.

They have come away and won 1-0 there, and we have come away and had shots blocked on the line, their keeper has made some good saves, and I think that he got 'Man of the Match' in the end, so that kind of sums up where the game was and what happened in the game.

We’re frustrated, but we will come away, we will look at it and go again on Tuesday.

Playing in a pair with Ronan Hale…

Teams look different at times these days, but effectively, we were a partnership up there today. To have a wide man in Garath McCleary is great for someone like myself.

I think that’s where the frustration also comes today because I do feel like we created some good chances, but we just didn’t put them away.

Looking towards Tuesday…

We can’t blow one game up as being massive, but for us, it’s the next game, so it’s the biggest game that we have got coming up. We have to dust ourselves down and go again, and we have another long journey on Monday up to Chesterfield.
