Gills new signing Cameron Antwi says he is itching to get started after signing a two-and-a-half-year deal at MEMS Priestfield Stadium.
The 24-year-old joined the club from Newport County on Friday having made 71 appearances and netting six times across an 18-month spell for the Exiles.
Having made the move to Kent, the player is keen to get out on the field at the earliest opportunity.
Speaking to the club website he said: “I am delighted, I've had a look around the stadium - I get a good vibe from everyone at the club and I am looking forward to get started.
"When I spoke to the manager I felt an ambition and there was a target for this club and everyone is on the same page. That was the big drive for me. I could feel the energy as soon as I met him and Dobbo.
“We want to climb and give the fans what they deserve.”
Antwi was on the scoresheet for Newport last weekend at ME7 and wasn’t expecting to make another trip to Medway quite so quickly as he explained.
He added: “No, not so soon! But things happen fast and when the call came I knew I couldn’t turn it down. I am glad to be here.
“I would say I’m composed creative player. I like to get on the ball and make things happen. I like to bring other people into play, link-up, get assists, score goals and work hard for the team – tackles, pressing high.
“I feel I am an all-round player that can do most jobs."
The former Cardiff man gave a message to the fans as he prepares to begin life as a Gills player.
He said: “Sorry for the celebration firstly [following his goal against Gills at Priestfield]! Get behind us, I can’t wait to play in front of you. When I have played here I have felt the noise and the atmosphere was good.
“Get behind me and the boys and we will repay you.
“I can’t wait to get on the training pitch with the boys and meet them.
“Let’s get going. I am ready.”
