Dack | "It's a challenging time for everyone"

Dacky

Bradley Dack was left visibly disappointed following Gillingham's 2-1 defeat at home to Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

The midfielder felt that the Gills could have done more when in possession during the first-half, but was left frustrated with the manner in which they conceded both goals in the second period.

Saturday saw Gillingham lose a fourth successive game, and Dack believes that everybody associated with the Football Club needs to stick together after what has been a tough period. However, he understands the fans' frustrations.

Dack also discussed how he has been trying to use his experience to help other players within the squad as one of the senior pros.

Assessment of the game...

It is disappointing to lose the game. In the first-half, I thought that we did all right, and probably just edged it. We knew what kind of game it was going to be against a Steve Evans team; they are physical, and it was going to go pretty direct. I felt like we could have probably kept the ball a bit better possession-wise.

In the second-half, they made a lot of changes at half-time, so they looked a little bit different. We pretty much collapsed, I think, in the second-half. We didn't look like we were going to score, and conceded from another set piece, and then conceded another really sloppy goal. I think that is the crux of it, to be honest.

A message to everyone at the Football Club...

It's a challenging time for everyone, and we have to try and stick together as a club. That's the fanbase as well, included in that. They have every right to be angry; losing four games on the spin is not even close to being good enough.

They are right to boo, 100%, but we need them. That is the only way that I can see us kind of getting out of this and trying to play for a bit of pride towards the end of the season, because we have got nothing else to play for, so that is where it is at the minute.

Trying to use his experience when he can...

I like to take it upon myself to try and tell the boys, listen, the worst thing that you can have on a football pitch as a professional is to come off the pitch feeling like you let the game pass you by, because it is not a long career. I try to make that clear, as it goes quicker and quicker every season, so don't let the game pass you by.

You have to take the game by the scruff of the neck if something is not going well. Take it on yourself and take responsibility to change that.

I am trying to do that. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't, but I always feel like I am giving my all to try and help the team.
