Gareth Ainsworth believes that Saturday's 1-1 draw with Fleetwood Town was a fair result.
Shaun Rooney's stoppage-time header cancelled out Seb Palmer-Houlden's first goal at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium, and Ainsworth felt that Fleetwood did enough in the game to score after a hard-fought affair in ME7.
Jake Turner continued to play in between the sticks, and he impressed his manager throughout, making some important saves.
Gillingham came into the game with several players missing from the matchday squad due to injury, and the Gills boss provided an update on the likes of Omar Beckles, Cameron Antwi and Armani Little.
It is a quick turnaround for Ainsworth's team, as they welcome MK Dons to ME7 on Tuesday night, which he anticipates being another difficult fixture.
On the draw...
It was a fair result, definitely. I think that Fleetwood created enough chances to get a goal today away from home. I am not going to dress things up and say that we were the better team, and try and convince the fans. No chance. 1-1 was a fair result.
I thought that in the second-half, we dealt with Fleetwood a lot better. We asked them for a bit more passing at half-time, and we did it. Still not perfectly, but we have drawn a game at home. This happens in League Two, and that is probably a fair result, and Fleetwood will be happy with a point.
I thought that Jake [Turner] had a super game. I thought that he was really good. I am gutted for him, it was nothing to do with him, the goal, he couldn't have done anything about it. His performance deserved the clean sheet today. He was superb. There was a save in the first-half, then the free-kick in the second-half, which are top class saves. He has done well.
Injury news...
Omar [Beckles] picked a muscle injury up against Barrow, as did Dacky [Bradley Dack], and as did Litts [Armani Little]. Garath McCleary is recovering from one, Cameron Antwi had a contact injury, and Conor Masterson is still recovering from one. There are some really big players out at the moment, and it makes a difference.
[More on Cameron Antwi] -He will be out for definitely a couple of games, and we will have to see what magic we can work. It was a tough tackle that he went into last week, and that shows the commitment of him. He is brilliantly committed for this club, but it is just unfortunate that on his full debut, he had to limp off after 25 minutes.
Looking towards MK Dons on Tuesday night...
That is going to be a really tough game. They have spent a lot of money bringing in some top-quality players who are well above this level. If we get something out of that game, then that will be a real positive as well. I am hoping that there are one or two back from the injury room, but we will see where we are, ready to go again.
Shad Ogie and Jonny Williams returning to the matchday squad...
I want to say that Shad Ogie and Jonny Williams, even though they have not been in the squad for a while, have conducted themselves excellently. There has been no fallout, and they have conducted themselves super professionally, as has Trav [Akomeah] when he was left out the other week and didn't come to Barrow with us.
They all work hard, and that is why when they come into the team, they don't look out of place. I was pleased for Shad. I thought that he had a decent game.
