Ronan Hale hopes that Gillingham can reward the supporters at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium with a positive result against Bristol Rovers on Saturday.
The striker scored his first goals for the Football Club in the 2-1 win against Tranmere Rovers, but has been unlucky in his attempts to find the back of the net since. However, Hale knows that all it takes is one chance to get back on the scoresheet, and believes there is no better place to do it than at home.
Hale explained how he plays the game with passion, and discussed how he has settled into life down in Kent.
Getting a positive result on Saturday in front of the home fans…
It would be massive. Obviously, it has been nowhere good enough, the 5-0 [vs Cambridge] and the 5-1 [vs MK Dons]. That should not be happening, and obviously, we tried to put it right on Tuesday, and there was a lot of improvements. We went to Barrow, and we ground it out until the last minute, so there’s no reason that we can’t stay in games. Hopefully, Saturday is a different story where we’re on the front foot, and we maybe get an early goal ourselves.
Getting back amongst the goals…
I can’t wait to score again. It was a great feeling getting two here, and I haven’t scored in a while, but it’s one of them for strikers that they go in and out of form. Hopefully, just one chance falls for me, and I get back on that goal-scoring train again. There is no better place to do it than on home soil.
Wearing his heart on his sleeve…
I always do. At every club I have been at, I have played for the club and the fans. It hurts me when I lose. I love winning, and I love scoring goals, so when I’m not doing that, I feel like I’m not doing my job. Obviously, the situation we’re in at the minute, the run of the luck has not come with us, and fingers crossed, it changes come Saturday.
There have been massive improvements from the last two games that were nowhere near good enough. The boys know that, and hopefully, we can change our luck on Saturday.
Settling into life in ME7 and his role in the team…
I feel that I am finally settling into the team. Obviously, January is never easy coming into a new team and new surroundings. Me and my family have settled now, and we’re really looking forward to kicking on. As a striker, it is frustrating not to be scoring every week, but it will come. I’m looking forward to the games coming up.
I’ve said to the Gaffer before that I don’t mind where I play, as long as I’m on the pitch. I love playing. It’s one of those where I will always find myself in the right position. It’s just whether I get the chance or take my chance.
