Gillingham captain Armani Little was left disappointed after the 2-1 defeat at Fleetwood Town after a solid opening 45 minutes at Highbury.
The skipper admitted the need for the Gills to be more clinical when they are on top of games, having led 1-0 at half-time.
The midfielder looked ahead to the Christmas period, knowing how crucial the two upcoming games at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium will be for their season. He also praised the 261 travelling supporters who made the long journey to Lancashire.
On the defeat…
It’s a loss, and it’s not a good place in that changing room. No one likes losing, but it was similar to last week, where we have to take our chances when we’re on top. I think that in the first-half we played pretty well, but we need more goals. We will be working on that in training, and hopefully, it will come in the games to come.
Christmas period…
We have got a busy, busy period over Christmas, so there are a few games now where we have got two home games back-to-back, and they are must wins now. We will have to take the game to the two teams that we are playing. We know how tight this league is, and a few wins will get you right back into the mix again.
We’re going there with a fire in our belly. We have to win now. That’s it. If we can get a few wins over the Christmas break and build up a little run, then it’s there for us in the second-half of the season to come in strong.
The travelling support…
They have been brilliant all season and have backed us in numbers today, especially around Christmas. It is a long way to come. We will repay them, hopefully, in the next two home games. Just stick with us, and I am sure that we will change it.
