Harrogate Town v Gillingham
Sky Bet League Two
The Exercise Stadium
Saturday January 24, 2026
Kick-Off, 3pm
Team News:
Travis Akomeah will be available for selection after rejoining the Football Club on loan from Watford until the end of the season. Saturday will likely come too soon for Lenni Cirino, who signed a contract extension for the rest of the 2025/26 campaign earlier in the week.
Marcus Wyllie [ankle] and Nelson Khumbeni [shoulder] will be unavailable for Saturday’s game.
Jack Evans will be unavailable for Harrogate due to suspension, having been sent off for two bookable offences in their defeat at Shrewsbury Town. Jacob Slater will be available for selection, having served his suspension.
Manager Comments:
Simon Weaver: [On their win earlier in the season] “At least they can look back on it and know that we are capable of doing something. We had to show a lot of different aspects of a good performance on that day. In the first-half, we were in the driving seat. In the second half, we weren’t. We were up against it, and it was a good defensive showing to maintain that clean sheet.
“We learnt lessons that day of how to be a little bit better in the second half, but we have got to show the same spirit again because they are a forceful outfit.”
Gareth Ainsworth: “I have got good memories up there; we started our run. We want to go up and win the game. They are a team that beat us here earlier in the season, and we are well aware of that, but I believe that we have got enough in the building to go up and beat any team. I want to go and take it to Harrogate on Saturday.”
Previous Meetings:
Harrogate leads the head-to-head with four wins to Gillingham’s one. The fixture has also seen two draws, with one coming at The Exercise Stadium last season in Gareth Ainsworth’s first game in charge.
The hosts took the lead shortly before half-time from the penalty spot. Josh March got in behind the Gills defence to get on the end of James Belshaw’s ball forward before rounding Glenn Morris and going to ground. The referee believed there was sufficient contact and awarded the penalty. March took the spot kick himself, slotting it into the bottom left corner.
Gillingham were awarded a penalty of their own in the second half, as Oli Hawkins was tripped just as he went to strike the ball. Max Clark was the unlikely taker and showed great composure to place his penalty into the bottom left corner.
