Gaffer | "There is a lot to contend with"

Gareth

Gareth Ainsworth is very aware of the attacking threats that Bromley will pose as they travel to the MEMS Priestfield Stadium on Saturday.

The league leaders come to ME7 in fine form, and the Gillingham manager is hopeful that his team can build off their back-to-back wins and give the supporters more to cheer about.

Jonny Smith was forced off due to a lower leg injury in the 3-0 win at Harrogate, and Ainsworth provided an update on his availability and the rest of the team. The Gills boss also discussed the signings of Cameron Antwi and Ronan Hale.

The threat Bromley carry...

They have got some good players, and we have got to match this. They have got some good individuals. Obviously, Michael Cheek scores a lot of goals for them. We know that he has scored a lot of goals over the years.

They are a real threat from crosses and from set pieces, but it is the way they get into the attacking positions that we have got to deal with as well. There is a lot to contend with, and I am looking forward to it because it is just down the road. We're really looking forward to hosting them, and hopefully, it will be a good game.

On back-to-back wins...

It is great momentum, and it could have been even better. I think that the lads were really up for the Cheltenham game and making a charge, but we are just going to have to delay it for a few days. I am sure that this place will be rocking on Saturday with the amount of fans that will come over, as Bromley will definitely bring a few. I am sure that the Gillingham supporters will be happy with the two wins on the bounce and will turn up in numbers.

Let's hope that we can give them something to shout about.

Team news...

Jonny [Smith] is going to be out. He took a really nasty twist on his lower leg and ankle area, so he is not going to be fit for the weekend. Apart from that, everyone else will be in, and the new signings will be available as well.

The signings of Cameron Antwi and Ronan Hale...

[On Cameron Antwi] - Cameron's going to add to us in that midfield area. Whether it is sitting deep or getting forward, he is very versatile, which is great. He can probably play up front as well, so he brings a wealth of positions for us. He has a calmness on the ball and some great energy, and adds some youth to the team, which is great for us.

[On Ronan Hale] - Ronan has been a striker that we have been tracking for a while. We are really pleased to get him over the line. He has got a really good pedigree and goalscoring record. He's very sharp in and around the box and gets his shot off. He is a real bubbly character, and playing international games for Northern Ireland shows the calibre of player that he is.

We want to be a team that gives him opportunities and gives him a platform to perform and play his best stuff.

I am really pleased to get that one, and I can't thank Brad and Shannon [Galinson] enough for their support and backing in that one, and Joe Comper for getting it over the line. It was a real team effort.
