Everybody at Gillingham Football Club is saddened to learn of the passing of former player, Alec Farrall.
Alec passed away on Monday evening in Prenton. He was 89.
Alec began his professional career with Everton in 1953 before making the move to Preston four years later. In 1960 he made the move south to Gillingham and went on to make 220 appearances in all competitions, scoring 21 times.
The midfielder was part of the Gills team that won the fourth division title in 1963-64. He played 51 times that season, scoring once.
In the summer of 1965 he signed for Lincoln and would remain there for one season before joining Watford, making his final appearance in 1968.
Alec sits in position 40 on the all-time Gills appearance list.
His funeral will take place on Friday June 13.
Gillingham FC had a special place in Alec’s heart, it was his club, and was still talking about them all the time until very recently.
